2ND EDITION OF THE CEO's BUSINESS NETWORKING COCKTAIL

The Tema branch of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce & Industry

held the 2nd edition of the CEOs Business Networking Cocktail dubbed “Meet the Crème de la Crème to Network”.

The event under the theme, “Succession Planning: The Panacea to a Vibrant Private Sector and Ghana’s Economy”, brought together CEO's from Accra, Tema, Tarkwa and other parts of the country as well as high rank Public Officials to network and share practical knowledge on key aspects of corporate management.

The event, which was held at the Senior Staff Club House of the Ghana Ports & Harbour Authority, sort to highlight the relevance of Succession Planning to the modern CEO and leverage on the presence of business executives as well policy makers to network.

In his opening address, Tema Regional Chairman, Mr. Isaac Barry identified the poor state of succession planning as the bane for the collapse of most indigenous businesses in Ghana, and called for renewed attention for CEO's to adopt a structured Succession Plan.

The Keynote Speaker for the night, Nana Dr. Agyekum Addo who is the Founder and CEO of Kama Health Services Ltd, now known as Mikaddo Holdings Ltd, took participants through practical approach to Succession Planning with real life case studies. He stressed that Succession Planning is not a one-day event; it must be well planned and strategically implemented. It does not necessarily require a family member but a well-groomed individual or group of personnel who understands the vision and are ready to selflessly take the business to the desired destination. 

The deputy Minister for Trade & Industry and MP for Tema West, Hon Carlos Ahenkorah, in his delivery emphasized government’s commitment to assisting local industries to thrive by putting in place favorable policies for sustainability. 

“The spirit inherent in the letters of the theme directly corroborate government’s economic transformation plan underpinned by program of rapid and aggressive industrialization and value addition especially, in agro processing and vibrant manufacturing,” he stated.

The Director of Tema Port, Ms Sandra Opoku, on her part assured participants of GPHA’s objectives to facilitate trade, and always collaborate with stakeholders and align their business interests in its operations. She said with the expected growth in the industry, it has become even more imperative to sustain and grow Ghanaian businesses to help boost the economy. 

There was also time for questions and sharing of some personal experiences by the over one hundred participants that graced the event despite the heavy down pour that evening. Members were also treated to some good music and scrumptious refreshments at the cocktail event. 

Japan Motors Ghana Ltd, one of the major sponsors for the evening, thrilled members to the beautiful features of the Latest Nissan Patrol Y62 V8 which was on display throughout the event.
