BUSINESS TOUR TO BLUE SKIES AND HPW FRESH AND DRY LTD
The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry
organized a business tour to Blue Skies Ltd and HPW Fresh and Dry Ltd on October 1, 2019. The Delegation which was some members of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry was led by the President of Chamber, Nana Dr. Appiagyei Dankawoso I.
The objective for the tour was to familiarize with the activities undertaken by Blue Skies Ghana Ltd and HPW Fresh & Dry Ltd specifically, the fruit juice and beverage industry and the fresh and dry fruit processing industry. The Chamber believes in evidence-based advocacy, as such, found it important to embark on the business tour to discuss and share ideas about the challenges facing the industry.
The tour is also used as a medium to throw light on the need for businesses in Ghana to adopt modern operation and management strategies such as; technology and innovation, good corporate government practices, adherence to international standards and packaging and good customer care that can help advance increase in output.
The president of the Chamber in his remarks applauded both organizations for their contribution to economic growth in the country, particularly the creation of employments in Ghana. He also informed the companies the Chamber’s commitment to serving as the link between the private sector and government at various levels while offering its members a myriad of business support services.
He expressed the hope that the visit will deepen their mutual relations with the Chamber for the purposes of complimenting the industrial growth agenda of the government. “One of the key things we need to think about is how to serve as agents of change for the country as business men and women, because politicians have done their best” he retorted.
Mr. Seth Dei the Co-Founder of Blue skies Ltd said that climate change, sale of fertile land to estate developers, and black bacteria spot destroying mangoes are some of the challenges the company faced. He continued that our competitive advantage as a nation is agriculture and he sees a lot of possibilities if government should invest in agricultural research and provide solutions to issues concerning the agricultural sector. He added that real wealth comes from the soil; he concluded that the company wants to expand and is currently conducting research into product development.
James Obeng the plant Manager of HPW fresh and dry fruits limited stated that the company upholds their core values which are care and responsibility towards customers, staff and the environment. The company operates with renewable energy and aspires to grow and develop while continuing to add value to Ghanaian fruits. He mentioned that the Ghanaian mango is no longer as tasty as it used to be.
