GNCCI CELEBRATES BUSINESS EXCELLENCE AND INNOVATION

Celebrating business excellence and innovation

The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry as renewed its commitment to fostering ethical business practices. At the third Chamber Business Awards the President of the Chamber, Nana Dr. Appiagyei Dankawoso I maintained that Government has demonstrated its commitment to build a modern and prosperous economy by leveraging technology, innovation and digitization. 

Nana Dankawoso I, in his speech stated that building a nation is a shared responsibility that requires both government and the private sector. The Chamber as the foremost private sector business association in Ghana has been organising Chamber Business Awards as part of its efforts to foster ethical business practices and promote businesses, he revealed. He also stated that the theme, “Digitizing the Ghanaian Economy for Competitive Edge in Globalized Markets”, is timely and in support of the government’s commitment to ensure a competitive business climate. 

In his acceptance remarks on behalf of the awards winners, Mr. Samuel Amo Tobbin of Tobinco Pharmaceutical, commended the Awards Organising Committee for their efforts in providing the requisite support for nominees to participate in the awards and mobilize the needed documentation in line with the seven criteria. He noted that the awards process has highlighted the essence of documenting business processes which is crucial for enhancing business operations and marketing.

“Many of us started in our own small way with little or no exposure. But here we are today with the efforts of our sacrifices being acknowledged. We are truly honoured and encouraged by these awards to attain greater heights in business innovation and excellence and support government’s ‘Ghana Beyond Aid’ agenda. Surely, we will leverage on the goodwill and the global business networks of the GNCCI to enhance our visibility, business referrals, reputation and product differentiation”. 

The awards had four main categories namely: Business Awards; Regional Awards; Personality Awards; and Special Awards, with the Vice President of Ghana being honoured as an honorary member of the Chamber for his contribution towards the business community.

Hon. Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten, Minister of Trade and Industry was awarded a personality award for exceptional leadership in Trade and Industry. Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey was awarded A personality award for Exceptional leadership in using diplomatic relations to strengthen bilateral/ multilateral trade relations.

Mr. Samuel Amo Tobbin of Tobinco Pharmaceuticals emerged as the Business Man of the Year, with Mrs. Janet Anane of Gentle Giants Limited emerging as the Chamber Business Woman of the year and Mr. Emmanuel Borketey Bortey of Charger Limited as the young entrepreneur of the year 2018. Citi FM being honored with a special award for its contribution towards the campaign for the consumption of local rice.
