The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI), in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of Ghana, organised a Business Forum on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, in Accra, Ghana. The event, aimed at fostering bilateral trade relations and exploring investment opportunities, witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including the President of the two countries, H.E. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of Ghana and the President of Kenya, H.E. Dr. William Ruto.
The gathering served as a platform for business leaders, policymakers, and diplomats to engage in productive discussions, exchange ideas, and explore avenues for mutually beneficial partnerships. With a focus on promoting economic growth and development, participants delved into various sectors, including agriculture, manufacturing, technology, and infrastructure.
An important part of the forum was the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the GNCCI and its Kenyan counterpart, the KNCCI. This landmark agreement aims to strengthen trade ties between Ghana and Kenya, facilitating increased trade and investment flows between the two nations.
In his address, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo emphasised the importance of collaboration and cooperation in driving sustainable economic development. He lauded initiatives undertaken by both chambers of commerce over the years and expressed optimism about the prospects for enhanced trade relations between Ghana and Kenya.
President Ruto of Kenya echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the need for African nations to work together to harness the continent’s vast economic potential. He commended the efforts of the Ghanaian government and business community in creating an enabling environment for trade and investment.
The Forum also featured informative panel discussions, on investment opportunities, and networking sessions. Participants had the opportunity to showcase their products and services, facilitating business matchmaking and fostering partnerships. As the event ended, stakeholders expressed optimism about the future of Ghana-Kenya relations and the broader economic landscape of the African continent.
