In an effort to equip businesses with efficient tax management skills, the Accra Branch of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with KPMG Ghana and JS Morlu, organised a capacity-building workshop on “Efficient Tax Planning” on February 29, 2024, at the GNCCI Head Office in Dzorwulu. The aim was to help members unlock the secrets of tax efficiency. Mr. Michael Boateng, Partner Tax at KPMG Ghana, and Mr. Bernard Bempong, Managing Partner at JS Morlu Ghana, delivered the training.

Mr. Michael Boateng of KPMG Ghana provided an insightful overview of the Ghanaian Tax System, covering its structure, key components, and recent tax laws affecting businesses. His presentation highlighted the importance of proactive tax planning and demonstrated its impact on businesses bottom lines.

Mr. Bernard Bempong of JS Morlu Ghana took the workshop further by encouraging participants to use legal means to strategize their businesses. He outlined strategies to optimize financial efficiency while ensuring compliance with regulations. Mr. Bempong stressed the significance of aligning tax planning and bookkeeping records with overall business objectives, promoting holistic strategies for sustainable growth and legal compliance.

The interactive nature of the discussions, including case studies and exercises, led to lively deliberations among attendees. Participants were encouraged to think critically about their tax planning practices, keep intentional records, and explore innovative solutions tailored to their needs.
