GNCCI Central Regional Office Signs An MoU With Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU)

The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Cape Coast Regional Office has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU) to bridge the gap between academia (Technical and Vocational Institutions) and Industry.

A delegation comprising the 2nd  Vice President of the Chamber, Mr. Stephan Miezan, Mr. Ben George Smith – (Vice Chairman, Cape Coast) Mrs. Benedicta Anita Mensah-(Regional Manager, Cape Coast) Mr. Francis Korankye Sekyi-(Technical Committee Chairman, Cape Coast) and other representatives from the various trade sections were all present at the event. 

Mr. Stephan Miezan underscored the Global Transformational Agenda on Economic Development, which focuses on technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship as key components of economic development, and expressed hope that the MoU’s vision would realize the economic impact of TVET, innovation, and skilled labor. 

He added that, as an entrepreneur, he believes it is long overdue for academia and industry to come together to bridge the gap between academia and industry.  According to him, this marriage will help put a stop to producing students who are not fit for the business environment and unemployed students in Ghana.

Prof. Joshua Danso Owusu Sekyere, Vice- Chancellor of CCTU expressed his gratitude for the initiative taken by the Chamber.  He also acknowledged the support of the Chamber to build the niche between Cape Coast Technical University as the Academia and the Trade Industry in the Central Region. 

He emphasized effective collaboration and usage of the Technical and Human Resources untapped by both parties to transform the business community in the region. He revealed that the University stands tall in Ghana with regard to building the capacity of Technical and Vocational Training Resources.
