Swearing-In of the GNCCI Council of Elders

On Thursday, August 8, 2024, the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) formally swore in its Council of Elders at the GNCCI National Secretariat in North Dzorwulu, Accra. This event marked the official commencement of the Council’s duties, as the members took their oaths of office, pledging to provide strategic guidance and support for the Chamber’s ongoing and future initiatives.

The Council of Elders, established under Article 20(E) of the GNCCI Constitution, is composed of seven distinguished individuals, including past Presidents of the Chamber, two representatives from past and present National Council Members, and two astute businessmen and women who have made significant contributions to the Chamber’s growth. The Council members are:

  • Dr. Ishmeal Yamson (Past President, GNCCI)
  • Mr. Wilson Atta Krofah (Past President, GNCCI)
  • Hon. Seth Adjei Baah (Past President, GNCCI)
  • Mr. Michael Bozumbil (Current Council Member, GNCCI)
  • Mr. Isaac Y. Barry (Former Council Member, GNCCI)
  • Madam Monica Bawuah (Astute Businesswoman)
  • Mr. James Aseidu Kainyiah (Astute Businessman)

These esteemed leaders bring a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to the Chamber’s mission of fostering economic growth and sustainable development in Ghana. The Chamber’s mission is to protect and promote the private sector and sustain economic development in Ghana.

During the swearing-in ceremony, each Council member took an official pledge to uphold the values and objectives of the GNCCI, underscoring their critical role in shaping the Chamber’s strategic direction. Their advisory function will be essential in enhancing the Chamber’s capacity to address the evolving needs of its members and the broader business community in Ghana.

Dr. Clement Osei-Amoako, the President of GNCCI, expressed his gratitude to the members of the Council for their commitment to serve. He highlighted the importance of their role in ensuring the continuity and legacy of leadership within the Chamber. “The swearing-in of the Council of Elders marks a new chapter in GNCCI’s history. It symbolises not only the rich legacy of leadership that has built the Chamber but also our commitment to navigating the future with wisdom and foresight,” Dr. Osei-Amoako stated.

The Council of Elders is expected to convene at least once a year to discuss key issues affecting the Chamber and provide expert advice on strategic decisions. Their insights will be critical in shaping the Chamber’s advocacy efforts, particularly in promoting a conducive business environment, supporting business growth, and enhancing trade and investment opportunities in Ghana.
