The GNCCI-GIZ AfCFTA Export Readiness Workshop for Women Entrepreneurs

Accra, 28th February 2023 – The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI), in partnership with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), held the third session of the “GNCCI-GIZ AfCFTA Readiness Workshop for Women Entrepreneurs” in the Greater Accra. The preceding two sessions were held at the Hotel Joecarl in Tema and the Airport View Hotel in Accra.

The workshops are part of the GNCCI’s efforts to boost private sector growth and equip women entrepreneurs to capitalize on the opportunities given by the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA).

This initiative aimed to accelerate the growth of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Ghana by ensuring that women entrepreneurs are adequately prepared to benefit from the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA). Studies have revealed that women entrepreneurs in Ghana lack sufficient knowledge about AfCFTA and its advantages for businesses. The GNCCI believes that a more targeted approach is needed to address this information gap and focus specifically on women.

The programme covered several topics related to AfCFTA, including Rules of Origin and Documentation, Incoterms, International Sales Contracts, Export Financing, Market Access, and Certification.

The GNCCI recognizes the important role that women play in Ghana’s economy and believes that these workshops will provide them with the necessary knowledge and skills to expand their businesses and increase their participation in AfCFTA

This program is a key initiative that enables women-led businesses to capitalize on AfCFTA opportunities. The GNCCI remains committed to assisting and empowering women-led businesses in Ghana.
