Ghana -Turkey Business Forum held at Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast city, Accra on 15th November 2022
The event was aimed at strengthening Ghana-Turkey bilateral trade and investment relations and also to provide Ghanaian businesses with the opportunity to meet their Turkish counterparts.
The assistant coordinator of the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey, Mr. Salik Dey said the Turkish government is willing to support Ghana’s international trade.
In an opening address, Mr. Clement Osei-Amoako, President of the Chamber, expressed his gratitude to Embassy and Mr. Abdulkadir TURAN, President of the Ghana-Turkey Business Council of the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Türkiye (DEIK), for their continuous support of our respective countries expansion and development, particularly in the areas of trade and investment.
Mr Osei-Amoako went on to say that, Ghana has had several bilateral meetings with Turkish business associates and groups, after Ghana’s independence. These series of engagements have resulted in the signing of a number of bilateral agreements to strengthen the economic and commercial ties between the two countries.
He said, “Ghana and Turkey have leveraged the opportunities that lie in the areas of trade and investment to foster economic growth in our respective countries”. “Available trade statistics from the International Trade Centre (ITC) show that Ghana’s exports to Turkey stand at US$ 119 million in 2021 whiles Ghana’s imports from Turkey amount to US$ 461 million” he added.
Mr Salik Dey on his part noted that the Turkish government was ready to increase Ghana’s export; “We are at six million dollars in terms of trade value and the goal is to reach a billion dollars as soon as possible”. He added that Turkey is currently investigating new opportunities while introducing new businesses to Ghanaian companies.
