Türkiye – Ghana Business Meetings Foster Stronger Economic Ties

Accra, Ghana – The Türkiye – Ghana Business Meeting was held on 28th March 2023, with the aim of strengthening economic ties between the two nations. The event was jointly organized by the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly, the Turkish Embassy, Ghana, and the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI).

In a speech to mark the event, the President of the GNCCI, Mr. Clement Osei-Amoako, expressed his condolences for the recent earthquake in Turkey and extended Ghana’s support to help navigate this difficult period. He emphasized the strong historical relationship between Ghana and Türkiye and the importance of the Turkish Trade Delegation’s visit to further strengthen the economic ties between the two nations.

Mr. Osei-Amoako noted that promoting and protecting trade and investment is critical to economic development, and collaboration with the Turkish business community is welcome in this regard. He commended the Ghanaian government for pursuing business-friendly policies and initiatives to achieve economic and industrial transformation. Ghana is one of the fastest-emerging market economies in Africa, experiencing robust economic growth driven by a stable political economy, diversification of the economy, and a growing middle class.

He also expressed the expectation that the bilateral meeting would enhance, develop, and increase trade volumes between both countries, exploring business opportunities and collaborations from several industries in Türkiye. The GNCCI remains committed to partnership opportunities under the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to access new markets and investors and tap into the benefits of regional integration.

During the meeting, both parties discussed several areas of collaboration, including trade, investment, and technology transfer. As a business association, we encourage our members to explore new business opportunities with Turkish counterparts in Ghana and vice versa, as this will undoubtedly contribute to the growth of our respective economies.

The forum brought together over 100 representatives from various industries in both countries to discuss potential areas of collaboration and partnership. Participants engaged in fruitful discussions on topics such as trade, investment, and technology. The event provided a platform for networking, knowledge-sharing, and establishing mutually beneficial relationships between businesses in Ghana and Turkey.
