YIWU CHINA & AFRICA BUSINESS COUNCIL COURTESY CALL ON THE GNCCI

Accra, June 18, 2024 — The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GNCCI) welcomed a high-profile delegation from the Yiwu China & Africa Business Council. The meeting held at the GNCCI’s national secretariat, Accra marked another significant milestone in strengthening economic ties between Ghana and China.

Led by Zhu Shun, President of the China Africa Chamber of Commerce of Yiwu, the 34-member delegation arrived with the primary objective of gaining firsthand insights into the Ghanaian business environment and exploring new partnership opportunities. The ongoing developments with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) have opened up exciting prospects, and both parties recognised the importance of collaboration for mutual growth.

The President of the Chamber, Dr. Clement Osei-Amoako, extended a warm welcome to the Chinese delegation, emphasising the GNCCI’s crucial role in Ghana’s economic landscape. He expressed the Chamber’s readiness to engage with Chinese businesses and highlighted the stable business climate and strategic location of Ghana within West Africa as an advantage for Chinese investment.

The Yiwu China & Africa Business Council (YCABC) expressed its eagerness to establish a strong partnership with GNCCI, aiming to boost Sino-Ghanaian trade and investment in alignment with AfCFTA’s vision of enhancing intra-African commerce. The delegation also sought opportunities to discuss major projects with Ghanaian authorities, focusing on achieving mutual success and strengthening bilateral ties.

Following the opening ceremony, Ghanaian businesses at the programme participated in fruitful B2B meetings with their Chinese counterparts. These interactions fostered meaningful dialogue and explored various avenues for collaboration. This visit sets the stage for shared prosperity and meaningful partnerships.
